Damien
Faulkner and Ryan Hooker were robbed of victory in round six of the
British GT Championship by a failed differential on their Trakspeed
Porsche 911.
Hooker led the class from the off and sat in third
place overall when he handed over to Faulkner just
before half distance. Faulkner rejoined in seventh
place but when the pit stops were completed he was
back into third place. Two laps into his stint he began
to slow as the car became quite smoky. Two laps later
having dropped down the order the Trakspeed car was
in the pits with a broken differential and was out
of the race.
The team were disappointed for Faulkner
and Hooker but were running strongly enough with their
other cars to hold onto third overall and first and
third in the GTC class.
“We are really
disappointed as we had a huge lead in the class when I took over and
were looking at third place overall” said Faulkner. “All we can do now is look forward
to tomorrow and another front row start which hopefully we can convert
into a class win and maybe if it rains an overall victory. I have
to thank the Trakspeed team for providing us with such a quick car
and I’m delighted that they had such a good result with their
other drivers. Hopefully I can repay them with a strong finish tomorrow”.
Faulkner
will start tomorrows round seven of the championship, which takes
place at 2:00pm, from second on the grid before handing the Porsche
over to Hooker. |
